Why every creator needs to understand the psychology of attention

You're already playing the attention game. Most creators just haven't noticed yet.

Creators are playing on more than one field at once. Most don't realize it. But the ones who do could multiply their impact tenfold.

Take data, for one. Creators don't just make content. They're generating data around the clock: likes, saves, opens, views. We'll get into why data is one of the most valuable things a creator owns in a future issue.

Then there's the psychology of attention.

It's the cognitive process that decides where we aim our focus, pulling us toward the external or internal signals that feel relevant and spark some kind of response.

It's a big topic, and there's a lot to say about it.

What matters for any creator is starting to fold this idea into the work, while asking questions like:

  • Why does anyone stop to pay attention to my content?

  • Am I after attention that lasts, or attention that's quick?

  • Which channels are built for each one?

  • How can I improve my content, my hooks, and my CTAs to hold more of my audience's attention?

What’s winning this week

Carousels and content built around "the advice I wish I'd had at X age."
